Can exercise help focus attention?

Managing High Energy

AD/HD children respond amazingly well to yoga. Find a video and practice together. Yoga has proven beneficial calming effects. The reason for this is because yoga uses both body postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama). The breathing exercises help the child to calm down enough to follow instructions. A deeper exploration of the connection between yoga and ADHD may be found at www.specialyoga.com/adhd.htm
Of course, good old-fashioned exercise such as running, playing basketball, a pick-up game of baseball or other vigorous activities improve cardio vascular fitness and help run off excess energy.
